Working

This afternoon all the students in Room 17 were working hard. Some of us were finishing some Art, some were Reading and some were doing Mathematics. It was very warm but we enjoyed our swim earlier in the day.

Parts Of Speech

We have been learning about nouns, verbs and adjectives. They are different types of words. We wrote some sentences and identified these special words in our sentences. Then we picked our best sentence and designed an illustration to go with it. Visit the classroom to see our creative ideas.

Is This Art?

We discussed "What is Art?" Students suggested what art could be. It was hard to define. Here are some of our art ideas on our classroom wall. On the green paper, we could choose to do whatever we liked. Some students used scissors, pencil, pens, colouring pencils and felt pens.


 For another piece of art, we used one piece of white paper, one piece of orange paper and one sticky dot. We could place the dot wherever we wanted on the white paper. Some people chose to cut a shape around the border. We decided that this is a type of art.

Today we made some art. This is our happy class working.

Learning in Action

Today we were learning about nouns and verbs. They are parts of speech that describe two types of words. The teacher called out a word and the class had to perform the action of a verb or make the shape of a noun.

This afternoon we continued working to tell about ourselves and find out about other people.
Our classroom looks bare at the moment but we are completing some work that will soon be on the walls.

Reminders

We had a wonderful first day at school today. We got to know each other a bit and had some small challenges.

Monday - R17 wheels. Bring your bike or scooter and a helmet to use at morning tea and lunch.

Tuesday - Swimming. Bring togs and a rash shirt, swim cap, goggles and a towel in a named bag.

Thursday - Swimming. Bring togs and a rash shirt, swim cap, goggles and a towel in a named bag.
