Assembly

Room 17 hosted the Kowhai Whanau assembly today. We also presented an item. The slide deck for our presentation is below so you can have a look and talk with your child about their learning.

Celebration

Today at the Kowhai Whanau assembly, 3 students from Room 17 received a certificate. Well done Chloe, Eva and Harry.

Young Ocean Explorers

Today we had a visit from Riley and her dad Steve Hathaway. They started the Young Ocean Explorers.

Riley presented some information, photos and videos about the ocean and how we can help to look after it.

Riley told us about all the exciting trips she has had around the world diving in the ocean and studying marine life. 

Georgia received a copy of one of their books.

Mathematics Strategies

This week we have been learning about different strategies to solve addition problems in Mathematics.
Ryan and Georgia took turns to show their maths groups which strategy they used to solve a problem.
Some students used a place value strategy. They added the 100s together, the 10s together, and then the ones together, before adding up the total.

Champion

In the weekend, Carlos won the Junior Dragster Comp 5 at Meremere.
He raced his dragster against a variety of opponents and finished in first place.
Way to go, Carlos!
